Born and raised in Darrington, Dan had an early career in photography, taking him all across the American West Coast - Oregon, Washington, California. Eventually Dan returned to Darrington in 1987 to continue his family’s legacy in the logging industry. He worked as a  logger for his family’s logging company, leading him to start his own logging company in 1991. Through the support from his brothers and the Darrington community, he purchased his own mill in 1996. Dan got busy with starting a family, and while raising his two sons, he began exclusive milling in 2005. In 2004 Dan was also elected to town council, and has held the seat of Mayor from 2012 to present. Some of Dan’s personal hobbies he carries out with friends, family, and the like are hunting, fishing, and hiking in N. Cascades. Dan goes as far as to teach the local Hunter’s Ed classes for Darrington and surrounding communities to share his passion for human interface with the natural world around us.
